How to reach to the next level…

Many players often ask “what is the key to becoming a great player”? It is difficult to find the correct answer to this simple, yet complicated question. However, we can help answer the question based on each of our teaching pros’ experiences. The answer is: a combination of everything; private lessons, clinics, tournament play, and equipment.

Private Lessons: It is beneficial for players of all levels to continue private instruction. It’s easy to pick up bad habits whether you’re playing with friends or competing in a tournament. The basic fundamentals are essential. The frequency depends on the level of the player. Beginners and intermediate must take at least 2 times a week private lessons to get the fundamentals. Advanced players should take at least once a week to go back to the basics. It all depends on the player and what they’re lacking in their game.

Clinics: This is great for intermediate to advanced players looking for people to hit in a competitive atmosphere, while experiencing the benefits of camaraderie. With just private lessons, players lack the live ball experience that is needed to get to the next level. In a tournament, it is rare to find an opponent to place a ball comfortable for the player to hit. With clinics, the player will learn to compete with group of players of their same caliber. It is recommended to take clinics once a week, based on their experience and level.

Tournaments:  Players will learn to think and find a way to win on the court. The preparation and pressure during tournament play brings out the true level of the player. It is recommended to play at least one tournament a month, depending on the goals of the player.

Equipment: This subject is rarely touched because some believe that equipment isn’t as important as training. However, it is an essential part of the game. For example, a player who is aspiring to compete at a collegiate level will not be able to reach their potential if they’re using a racquet that is not fit for their game. Our teaching pros can help players find what racquet, strings, shoes, etc that is best suitable for the player’s game and style.

All in all, players must realize that it is a combination of many factors that will increase their game. Keep in mind that every player is different with their needs. Our teaching pros can help direct the player to success individually. We are here to help.

Footwork and Strengthening Sessions

Sessions are available for private and semi-private for students interested in footwork and strengthening. Footwork is essential to get to the ball efficiently and to execute shots to its highest potential. Strengthening muscles help with power and prevention of injury. These sessions are usually held in the evenings. Please contact the pro shop to book a session.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons

Private lessons are designed to give players more individualized attention. They focus more techniques and strokes production. The individualized attention gives the players more time to ask questions as well as work on aspects of their game that require improvement technically, tactically, or mentally. Private lessons are available for adults, juniors and children.
